The Keyz are an indie rock come ska band from England. Besides having a brilliant biography, claiming they bred 99% of X-Factor contestants and experimented with cross genetics between themselves and a hormonal octopus, The Keyz have some nice tunes. Their EP, Superstar Gazer is a nice slice of quirky indie rock.
'Monkeyfish' has a ska feel about it, with catchy hooks and nice instrumentation. 'Jack' fits their genre description a bit better, with a guitar/piano led instrumentation and good vocals.
'Them & Me' is a piano led track that diverts from the slightly heavier core, and offers a really memorable piano line. I think this is probably the most commercial track, but the band will have to work to meet the three-minute pop song stereotype, this is over five minutes long!
The title track, 'Superstar Gazer' has a great piano line, and when it kicks in, it has a really upbeat vibe and classic chord structure. The intro is something Queen would be proud of.
The band should probably look at creating shorter songs to hold the listeners attention, but it does beg the question, why fix something that isn't really broken?
