The Change like their Scandinavian counterparts Millencolin offer up the sort of punk rock that used to grace the screens of thousands of living rooms back in the days of the P-rock television channel. Melodic and driving, yet somehow lacking that power that similar bands like Pennywise possesses. That isn't to say The Change don't have their own ideas and formulas when it comes to the song writing process; it's just that these ideas and formulas come across as rather formulaic and forced instead of dangerous and invigorating.

With The Deer Moss Murders you can tell that the bands time spent playing with AFI and The Bronx has definitely rubbed off onto them. Guitars that should feel raw and rebellious seem to shimmer and shine whilst vocals, which should soar above the instrumentation, seem lacking in power. If you're into punk rock circa 2000, this will definitely be your kind of jam. Sadly for me, it leaves a lot to be desired.
