This is a shame, the extended version of a highlight from Diarmaid O'Meara's excellent album 'Antisocial Behaviour' doesn't sound like I remember. Here the synths sound too fast and fiddly to dance to, smeared all over the originals superb beat. Perhaps it only worked the first time in a short, euphoric burst, but here it sounds like a Daft Punk rip off until the final minute, when everything slows to ticks and whirrs and an ominous thudding. This is the exhilarating O'Meara of previous single 'Antecedent'.
The techno version is a bit redundant too, with hardly any changes being made to the original. A basic, but rapid fire, jungle beat has been added, with a little distortion and some barely detectable extra bleeps now and then.
Antoine de Saint Exupéry, the French author of 'The Little Prince' once said that, "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away". The original version of 'An Inconvenient Abomination' wasn't perfect, but he has a point.
