When an album has six tracks all clocking in at around the seven minute mark or more (With some exceeding ten minutes) you can usually narrow down potential genre to but a few. It's certainly not unfair or unkind to describe pg.lost as post rock, and it would probably be very difficult to write a review without mentioning Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai - so I'm going to get it out of the way right now. pg.lost sound a LOT like Explosions in the Sky at their epic, soaring best, but they add lush synths to the mix. I almost wish I didn't know this, as I assume the lovely violins on track two are actually synths, but it adds depth to the compositions regardless, and sets pg.lost apart from their most obvious contemporary.
There's also a bit of an 80's soundtrack theme going on in there somewhere - there are hints of Brad Fiedel's legendary Terminator theme, Vangelis' Bladerunner and even 80s throwbacks Zombi. The drums and guitar are pure EitS although the arrangements are often more sparse, allowing the instruments room to breathe before erupting into soaring, epic crescendos.
If you're a hippy, and you need any further convincing, then the sleeve is an Ecopack made from recycled paper.
