This band excite me so much because I can tell they have all the potential to achieve longevity with their music and the ability to slowly amass a very eager, loyal and varied fan base.
Whilst it's true that vocalist, Gareth Jones sounds a lot like Eddie Vedder on "Last Man Standing", personally I think that's the only Pearl Jam comparison that can be drawn between the two bands. The track itself is extremely detailed with every element drawn together perfectly so that nothing really stands out explicitly. This is surely a sign of a band who work together beautifully, able to fuse everything together in a way that makes it so easy to listen to yet so rewarding for the more critical to delve into each part and marvel at. Whether this is done instinctively or methodically is insignificant. Either way, it's certainly something to be greatly admired.
"Baked" in comparison has a very ethereal feel to begin with followed by a somewhat disjointed and distorted middle section which somehow still remains coherent to the rest of the track. When it returns to the original melody it's evolved to a complex structure of FX laden guitar parts, echoed backing vocals and what is essentially a distorted hum of sounds that is as achingly beautiful as it is woefully dark.
Overall this is superbly produced and if you were upset when Aereogramme called it a day, this band may serve to ease the pain. I personally can't wait to see what they will produce in 5 years from now as it will no doubt be even more exceptional.
