Review - Giorgio Maggiore - Radioanima

Giorgio Maggiore - Radioanima

View The Review

5 out of 10

A veritable magpie's nest of an album, Giorgio Maggiore marries up a Vangelis-does-Pink-Floyd aesthetic with, by turns, Laibach-lite (Wie Wird Meine Zukunft?), Lou Reed en Italia (Liberi) and various 'thoughtful bits' from Bond films (pretty much everything else). It's semi-classical, it's Jazzed-out, it's Flamenco-ed, it's a pristine-sounding work of cinematic grandeur with a few tracks carrying on for three or four minutes more than they need to. Any directors out there looking to soundtrack their latest 1980s-noir should pay Signor Maggiore a visit pronto - others may find it background music in search of a foreground.
