Random Conflict - Escapism

When Random Conflict released what can only be described as the most boring, tedious generic piece of shite ever committed to plastic in 2006, they didn't surprise any one. Fast forward to 2008 and the band have all but dropped the trend they hopped on to and have released a genuine glimmer of potential in the form of Escapism. Part concept record, part bog standard "metalcore" album, the five Brummies will no doubt show that just like the internet they mean super serious business.

That's what lets this record down in the long term. It's not that it isn't fun and enjoyable if you're only listening to it as background music, because it is. But when you're sat down and listening to like you should with all good metal records, it starts to get rather stale rather quickly. It's a shame; because the potential on show leads you to think this might actually go somewhere, what with it being part concept record after all.
