Computerclub - Before The Walls Came Down

This album was recorded in only 9 days! What else could these guys have achieved if they had had more time? The album reminded me of a lot of other bands out there at the moment, but there was something about Computerclub that makes them sound different.

The songs have a dark undercurrent theme to them, but some of the tracks are also about close feelings and friendship. Computerclub have got so many different sounds going on, there's a hint early eighties electronica mixed with a good old indie alternative sound.

This Birmingham based band has had a long journey to get to this, their debut album. The first drummer was forced to retire following an operation on one of his hands. So after recruiting their new drummer, they have really put everything they've got into this release.

The albums first song 'Glorious' starts off with a beautiful strumming guitar, the vocals enter, then the track really kicks off with the drums coming into play.

The albums title track is the second song, which takes the listener through a fast guitar sound and tells you to burn down the disco.

Other standout tunes are 'Reykjavik', 'This Is On Fire' and the bonus track 'Electrons And Particles' (which was a one off single, earlier this year).

This is a great collection of tunes, which just needs to be listened to more and more. This doesn't happen a lot but I had listened to this album at least 4 times before putting this review together, I have also recommended it to a number of friends.

I hope this album does as well as it should do for the group. I'm sure it will convert well to being played live, and I look forward to seeing them when they visit the north hopefully very soon.
