All music goes through phases. No matter what your chosen genre may be, that's a fact. Well except maybe jazz. Lipona, it would seem, are stuck in a phase about five years behind the rest of the world. Not that that's a bad thing at all - this album is heavily reminiscent of early Thrice and Rise Against, both two fantastic bands who produced by far their best material in the throes of youthful exuberance, before submitting to the dual evils of maturity and commercial success.

Lipona exude passion and power through gang choruses, Iron Maiden inspired guitar licks, breakneck drum fills and surging basslines. It's tight and well produced and, at ten songs just the right length too. If you enjoyed Revolutions Per Minute by Rise Against or Identity Crisis by Thrice then you'll probably find a lot to enjoy here.
