Big boys music, through and through. No matter how many times I hear the same structure, riffs, breakdowns and slogans, across any number of bands from Europe and the US. It is still pretty cool when you hear it done well. Not that there is anything you can really do to mess it up.

San Francisco based Lionheart know this and in all honesty play it straight down the line with their own take on the none-more-solid-than-Sunday-lunch metalcore.

It's everything you will have heard before from Merauder, Hoods, Stigmata, Earth Crisis and Terror but then the formula is solid and these boys have obvious passion for their chosen genre. The usual clichés about struggling through life, standing up for yourself, having honour, family etc. etc. are wheeled out. You only have to look at the track listing to see this.

Despite this all sounding very negative it's not really meant to be, it's music for people that know what they like, it's music aimed at a specific audience and no doubt would cause chaos in the live setting, which is always where hardcore needs to be heard and experienced.

"The Will To Survive" is a solid enough effort overall. The breakdown in "F.T.W." is probably my favourite part of this record, so there you go!
