Indigo Road - Hey It's Alright / Up For Air

This double A-side is Indigo Road's second release. The first song 'Hey It's Alright' is a bit of mess. Let me explain, it starts well, with some great piano work, the music is very good. Then at the end it all becomes too busy. The vocals are near perfect, but when her vocals start to become ruined by the backing vocals which sound like they are trying to get in on the action alongside a random violin, it all gets too much. I thought it then became rather unlistenable at the end. I personally don't think this should have been the first track on the CD.

Now, the second A-side 'Up For Air', is a different kettle of fish. This should have been the first tune on the CD. What a fantastic tune, the vocals are beautiful; the saxophone is haunting but fits in with the song perfectly. The chorus made me feel like it was summertime. The whole tune will definitely be playing in my house this coming summer. The whole track made me feel so uplifted. I think that was the aim of the songwriter, and it's worked.

'Simple' the third track, has a more acoustic sound, and blends in perfectly with 'Up For Air'. The whole tune goes by too quickly, which was such a shame. Fantastic vocals and brilliant guitar playing.

'Goodbye To You' cranks up the noise a little more compared to the other tracks. It stills fits in well with the previous 2 tracks. The drumming sounds like an army procession drummer at the start but really grabs the listener into the track and want to know where it's going. The singer sounds like she really enjoys singing this type of song, and it suits her voice really well.

This collection of songs should do well and create some good exposure for Indigo Road. My advice would be to get rid of the first song 'Hey It's Alright' and have it as a 3 song release. The overall rating has been lowered due to the first song, but I would still recommend people to check the other songs out.
