News - The Blackout Album Due In April

View The Article

The Blackout will release their new album in April. Read the lengthy update from the band here:

"Hey Ho

Just a little (pft) update for you all. First up we want to thank everyone who came to the shows over the festive season it was just what we needed after being off the grid for so long, recording in Texas was brilliant but it was good to be back playing. New Year’s Eve was especially fantastic, we had a great night and if you came down I’m sure you’ll agree it was top.

Now on to the impending rock juggernaut that is our 2nd full-length album. As fore mentioned we journeyed to a small town outside El Paso, Texas where we shot guns, played basketball, ate 2lb steaks the size of our heads and thought, while we’re here at Sonic Ranch Studios we may as well make haste in recording a corker of an album.

That went swimmingly and you can see some of the highlights of our Texan adventure in our video blogs, but more about that later. While we were out there we got all the music (Drums, Bass and Guitars) done with the help of our Producer Jason Perry and our engineer Mike Morgan who apparently, because of global date lines and time zones, didn’t exist in Australia on the 23rd of December. A big thanks goes out to him for a sterling job and for being as ’The Cockneys’ say, a top geezer. Much Love.

So we flew back carrying Hard Drives laden with future rock anthems. Christmas and new years passed bringing with them their usual turkey, alcohol, man flu and stripper fuelled shenanigans. Then it was time for Smith and I to put the final touches to The Blackout’s new offspring. So where else could we go to commit our voices to history but the chilly -11C, coastal town of Southend-on-sea. Or as the locals call it "Saarf end".

So as you read this overly elaborate and potentially pretentious update, Sean and I are sat in a Travelodge after spending most the week with the lovely Jason Perry recording some vocals. We have 3 more days to finish our ’shit’ and it is sounding splederific. We are so, so excited about this album you won’t believe. We honestly think it’s going to blow your minds, because it has ours.

We’re looking at an April release, I know it’s a long time away and we’re probably not going to be touring, extensively at least, until then. But listen to me when I tell you, it’s going to be worth the wait.

I’m going to be uploading album diaries over the next 2 months maybe one every 2 weeks or so, I’ll have to see how much material we got when i go through it. We got a brand new myspace also. So make sure you check back for updates on the album, video diaries and general The Blackout news.

If you got this far well done, I do apologize for the essay, but we finished early today and I’ve been a bit bored, after watching Frankie Boyle I haven’t got any DVD’s left.

Peace
Gavx"
