Lowkey's first album proper, ’Dear Listener’ is an openly honest and distinctly refreshing affair. Piled high with world class production that is going to make the large majority of the UK urban community sit up and take notice. Beats come courtesy of Scram Jones, Stylaz Fuego, Q-Tone who all add their unique touches and styles to a record that Lowkey utilises and makes his own. The tracks vary from the light, almost delicate to the full on dark and morbid.
Lowkey’s unique delivery and introspective mindset acts as an open window for the quite overt political undertones that are carried through many of the songs on the record. Tracks like 'Relatives' and 'Rise & Fall' showing that Lowkey has a serious side to compliment his fun loving side. The joint 'Alphabet Assassin' showcases an amazing lyrical dexterity, which has to be one of the best UKHH tracks in a long, long while.
Jon McClure of Reverend & The Makers and Lowkey's super group "Mongrel" makes an appearance on the track 'Revolution' which comes complete with an amazing and entirely beat boxed instrumental courtesy of the British Drum & Bass legend Shy-Fx.
This album is thoroughly impressive, worthy of repeat listens and a complete breath of fresh air and for once, no BRAP BRAP BRAP. Lowkey has landed, all hail Lowkey.
