Wow!

I've always been a Def Leppard fan, so this will be a fairly biased review, but if for some reason you're not, then you should pick up this new Deluxe Edition of the "Pyromania" album. Any self respecting rock fan should have the Leppard back catalogue anyway (stopping after Adrenalize; sorry guys!), but this package offers the original album (remastered of course by a team of audiophiles with the ears of a bat with a hearing aid) plus an entire concert from 1983.

It is the second disc that really blew me away, reaffirming my faith in the church of Leppard; albeit 26 years after it was recorded. It really is a great bonus disc, unlike recent "Expanded Editions" that just have original tracks with no singing or demo versions, this really is value for money and in all honesty; they should have held this back and released a live boxset - its not like Pyromania didn't sell enough at the time or since (it has been certified Diamond in the U.S. and only "Thriller" got in it's way).

Never having got to see them in the 80's with Steve Clark, this second disc really shows off what a huge part of the band he was - him and Phil Collen are full on shredders. It was recorded in Los Angeles, at the height of their fame over that side of the pond, and the sound is perfect. Listening to it makes you feel like your name is Jimmy Z and you drove up for the show in your Camaro with your girlfriend Hot Linda and a bag of 'ludes."good times brah".

There is no point going over Pyromania - it's there and its great - and it's still got balls (before Mutt Lange polished them so hard they pooped out Hysteria). Def Leppard were the biggest British export in the eighties, selling more records than Motley Crue, Bon Jovi and Guns n Roses in the eighties - which is astounding for five blokes from Sheffield - show some goddamn respect.

If you don't have any Leppard, you're either an idiot or a trendy twat going apeshit over what NME have just dribbled into your eyes and ears - in which case you're definitely an idiot.

Get this.rock on.
