Everyone who has heard Mel Keith seems to want to immediately compare her to Sheryl Crow. Understandable; she's American, she's a singer, she sings ball-achingly tedious rock songs. Sure, her heart's in the right place and live the band may be incendiary but on this album we have a squelch-up between a tired Alanis Morrisette and Alannah Myles, backed by Katrina's Waves (Wikipedia may be your friend at this point).

Where there should be power, there's shrieking (Don't Walk Away). Where there should be swing, there's stodge (You Shine). Where it should be gripping, it's awaiting the results at a battle-of-the-Americana-bands competition somewhere. Still, US shitcoms must have their choons. As Mel herself says in Amazing - 'I think I'll go out for a while. . .'
