So, Who’s Paranoid? Is the first studio release in seven years for The Damned on The English Channel/Red Eye label, their newest album since the release of Grave Disorder in 2001. Despite the band having their roots in punk rock, their sound has taken on many different forms over the years including: garage rock, psychedelic rock, cabaret, and not to mention the gothic influences.

The album is a true tour-de-force, a cosmic exploration of sound that demonstrates the talents and many faces of the band. From the more ’punk’ sounding songs such as ’Nothing’ and ’Danger To Yourself’. The myriad of different sounds includes the Goth ballad ’Nature’s Dark Passion’ and the breathtaking fourteen-minute long track ’Dark Asteroid’ a song that demonstrates the brilliant musicianship on the band in all its psychedelic splendour.

Forget for a moment The Damned have been around since 1976, their new album is a testament to the bands talent and longevity. So, Who’s Paranoid? Is the perfect example of the changing sounds of the band throughout their distinguished careers an album that will certainly please their older fans and perhaps even bring them some new fans.
