If you're old enough, you'll probably remember the first time you heard Mogwai. It might not be Mogwai, it might be Godspeed You, Black Emperor or a variety of other bands, but it's probably Mogwai. They're the ones that most people remember. Anyway, there'll be a band, and you'll remember the first time you heard them, possibly on the Evening Session, or on a hissy tape in a mate's car, or maybe on a record in someone's bedroom. It was before the days of MP3s, you see. Could have been a CD. Anyway, you'll remember the strange feeling you got as you realised that this was like nothing you'd ever heard before, and that's a kind of magic far too rare.
If you've listened to a lot of Mogwai, GSYBE, Explosions in the Sky and lots of other bands of that ilk since then then you won't get that magic from listening to Inertia Blooms, because they do sit quite nicely in what has become a well established genre. If, however, you haven't heard all of the above bands, (and why not? What the hell's wrong with you?) then you really ought to pick this EP up and, hopefully, experience that magic moment for yourself. It only costs three pounds for Pete's sake!
At least go to the MySpace and have a listen. This is good stuff, and deserves to be heard.
