Lo-Fi Lung - Sit Down For A Day EP

From the packaging alone you can pick up that Midlands duo Lo-Fi Lung, Julian Butt and Chris Harding joined by various friends onstage, are not you usual outfit. On the inlay of the CD is a library style ticket so you can lend it around. There's also a pack of seeds, which have been put in the 'front garden' outside my room but they probably won't do very well because of all the weeds and mess left behind by the builders. And while the sound isn't as unique as some of their other ideas, it's still a good one.

The dreamy folktronica of 'Pay It Later' is almost drowned out by an overbearing hum, but the nimble guitar picking just about makes it through. While 'Lost Weekend' is rough and raw traditional folk, all gruff voices, whiskey, preachers and loneliness in the dark, 'Letter To A Friend' is lighter but still manages to carry a comforting kind of melancholy. 'Breathe' is frantic, mysterious, sort of exotic and edgy enough to be more than background music for BBQs and montages of summer festivals. Those plants still aren't going to grow though.
