I have no real idea who the Brute Chorus is, but I like them. Imagine a completely stripped down Larrakin Love playing simple acoustic but with heavy emphasis on a chorus which will smack you in the face with cowbells. 'Grow Fins' builds slowly, occasionally interrupted by the shouted backing vocals, destined to be repeated at live venues soon.
B-side 'Nebuchadnezzar' is more like the 'frazzled country blues' that the blurb on the sticker promised me. While it lacks the instant appeal of 'Grow Fins' it has more depth. Bristling with quiet anger, the song is more fitting for the band's name. Hopefully we'll see a bit more of this band in the future.
