Natty really, really doesn't want you think he's a generic reggae singer. That's why he put out a mix tape sampling Simon & Garfunkel alongside Nas. That's why you'll here a lot about how he used to be a production engineer for indie bands, the Italian side of his family and his club night Vibes & Pressure, which has put on Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and DJ Statik.
The trouble with that is that he's named after Bob Marley & The Wailer's 10th album, 'Natty Dread', and his singles so far, 'Cold Town' and 'July', have been generic, mainstream-friendly reggae. If this was released at any other time of year apart from summer it wouldn't get anywhere near Radio 1 or the charts. Especially as this one of those songs about how great summer is, even though the past few July's have been wash outs. The way it's going, Natty, like Lethal Bizzle with hip-hop, is going to be reggae-for-people-who-don't-like-reggae if he's not careful.
