Having recently supported Far, and seemingly well received on their recent come back tour I was full of anticipation for these guys. Additionally, whilst browsing their press release and reading that they liken themselves to indie stalwarts Death Cab for Cutie I was about ready to burst. Therefore I was a tad disappointed when I was met with this gushing wash of beige.
Thing is, it's all there. I mean this band have all the ingredients to be pretty good; however together it seems as though they all agreed on arrival to set aside their integrity in favour of writing songs that would be at home in scenes of the O.C.
On further listening there's some brilliant production and some interesting breaks and guitar work. Additionally, it's clear that's there's nods to the likes of Biffy Clyro, Minus the Bear and JEW; and at times Death Cab for Cutie (as they rightfully claim). So, you know, it's not bad - there's just something overpowering lacklustre about the whole thing.
