Lovely stuff. Plain and simple...lovely stuff. Not my words, the words of Shakin Stevens.

Anyway, Ane Brun is a very cute Norwegian girl who has steadily been releasing albums and working at music for the past 5 or so years. Resulting in 2009 with "Changing Of The Seasons" which is a very nice album indeed.

Easiest bracket to put Ane in would be the singer-songwriter/folk tag, which isn’t that far off the mark really, but her music takes in a few more musical points of reference than the tag really gives away. Opener "The Tree house Song" draws on subtle country phrasings while my favourite "The Puzzle" has this Portishead ring to it in places. The album works just as well as a whole as it does as select tracks. Nearly every song from this would work well on its own; "Ten Seconds" carries one of the best choruses I have heard in years.

Her cover of "True Colours" by Cyndi Lauper (as used on some Sky HD advert) is a stand out track as well. Adding a fragility lacking from the original with Ane’s sweet voice.

More than highly recommended.
