Infadels guitarist Matt Gooderson has said; "Universe In Reverse is an inspirational album that makes you feel anything's possible." With this in mind I was really looking forward to getting this CD in my player and giving it a listen. 43 minutes later and I don't feel that different to how I felt pre listen. There are some catchy tracks on the album, most notably "Free Things for Poor People". But there's also a fair share of similar sounding, guitar driven, indie / electro tunes.
Infadels do have a talent for creating really memorable hooks and I found myself singing lines from songs through the course of the day. Especially the softer "Don't Look Behind You". The arrangements and productions are stand out, and it comes as no surprise to me to see that Youth have produced the album.
Infadels are hitting all the right notes and are sure to be a summer hit at festivals, as well as pumping through the radio waves. Although it's hard to follow a debut album for a lot of bands, Infadels have done it graciously, and have re-worked their sound well.
