It’s getting rarer and rarer that I find a pop/rock band that I like. Most of the ones take a country rock/folk rock influence or come from the singer/songwriter school of musical taste, so when a CD drops onto my doormat that looks like it came from 1997 I start thinking ’uh-oh’. I look at the name and the cover, "Are you Gregory’s girl?" pops into my head and, like a telly tubby with it’s telly tummy and a new film clip, I fire up my crackly stereo, crank the volume to a middle age man level and sit down to listen with some concern. If pre-judged expectations are ice then mine melt at absolute zero. Seriously, this band are good.

OK, so the obvious connections regarding influence come up as Morcheeba producing Texas, the band wears it’s influence on it’s sleeve, but this isn’t some second division group kidding themselves they’re Premiership quality, they’re top of the Championship and about to be promoted for next season. And this is off the back of an odd four track EP, go and listen to what’s on the MySpace page. There’s enough material to put out two solid top of the chart albums there! Plus a bunch of B-Sides for singles on both, without the need for remixes live tracks and some badly done flash cd-xtra.

For me there are two really excellent stand out tracks which could hit airwaves on this release; "Real Eyes Now" and "Moving Mountains", which is very reminiscent of Texas. And that’s not to say the other two are rubbish, because they’re pretty damn good as well. Then again there are the gripes. Or the gripe as it should be. ’ Why isn’t this an album?’ is what I ask myself over and over again, ’you have the material release it!’

In all though, I think it’s safe enough to say that this is a band well worth checking out.
