Juno is an award-winning movie that deals with teen pregnancy, it's a teen movie for grown ups and a grown up movie for teens. It's noted for the 'Moudly Peaches' song 'Anyone Else But You.'
The soundtrack is an interesting mix of old and new, predominantly made up of tracks by anti folk artiste Kimya Dawson in various guises. It's nice to see artists and bands such as Cat Power and Belle & Sebastian sitting next to Buddy Holly, Mott the Hoople and Sonic Youth. There's even an appearance from The Velvet Underground.
Each individual track has it's own merits, but as a whole, they provide perfect background (And sometimes foreground) music for the movie. Standout tracks include 'All I Want is You' by Barry Louis Polisar, 'Sea of Love' by Cat Power, and 'Anyone Else But You' by The Moldy Peaches.
Whilst there is a great variety of music on the CD, it's really made for the anti-folk, quirky kind of listener, and I can imagine some people tiring of it pretty quickly, or not appreciating what's on offer here.
Juno is perfect for people who like something a little different and quirky. A sure hit of 2007 that was always bound to carry on in to 2008 and beyond. If you haven't seen the movie, what are you waiting for?!
