It's been a little while since we've heard any new music from Secondsmile, although they have been playing shows as regularly as usual including supports for the split-up Blood Brothers, the reformed Rival Schools and The Fall Of Troy. Their contribution to BSM's 'Record Label, Schmecord Label' sampler, the previously unreleased 'Smokestacks', gave a brief preview of what might be coming on new album 'Years' (Out in July), but on 'Tell Me A Story' we get a better indication.

Working with Cave In and Pelican producer Andrew Schneider in New York, the Dorset five piece sound more beefed up and polished than on their previous record. Schneider has helped them combine the epic arrangements of songs such as 'Astronauts' and 'With Tired Eyes I See Clear' with the Fall Of Troy/At The Drive-In style fury of their early, shoutier work, the 'I Am Not Romeo, You Are Not Juliet' EP. 'Tell Me A Story' is stacked with rolling drums, a web of stellar riffs and mixed up time signatures and singer Ross Smithwick sounding on top form. With members of This Town Needs Guns, Meet Me In St. Louis and Radio 4 on the album, it sounds like we're in for a treat.
