Well, well, well. Funeral For A Friend is back. Having formed their own record label, Join Us Records, the Welsh quintet will put out Beneath The Burning Tree/Waterfront Dance Club as a double A side single on July 14th and frankly, Emo kids everywhere will love it.

Sounding remarkably like it wouldn't be out of place on the soundtrack to a mid-90s American teen flick or 'Saved By The Bell', Beneath The Burning Tree is a fairly awful Funeral For A Friend effort. The rhythm is nothing more than perky and massively average. In short, it is disappointing.

So it was a nice surprise that 'Waterfront Dance Club' is a different animal entirely. As close to a stadium anthem as you can get, this is a big tune and should, if all is well in the world, allow the band to be taken more seriously as 'grown-up' musicians.

Switch them around Funeral For A Friend - don't make us listen to 'Beneath The Burning Tree' first! A less patient listener might not have made it as far as track 2.
