Aborted - Strychnine.213

It's almost disheartening in a way. Aborted have been knocking out gore influenced death/grind for some time now. Well respected in Europe and with enough of a back catalogue to put most bands to shame, possessing enough blast beats and riffs to bring planes out of the sky it's a shame they seem to have followed trends on their latest piece. Anyone who knows Aborted will probably be surprised by the pronounced emphasise on melodic riffing, lead work and mid paced "grooves" to be found throughout "Strychnine 213". The band's blasting is still intact and there are enough guttural vocals, the production is pristine and treble heavy, the guitars processed to the eyeballs and set to destroy. So what is it that I don’t like then? It's too obviously trying to fit into a genre. Tremendous playing and execution don’t really save this at all I am afraid. Listen: www.myspace.com/abortedmetal
