I don't think many people asked for a Mick Hucknall solo record, but it's a tribute to sometimes overlooked soul singer Bobby Bland (A contemporary of Sam Cooke and Ray Charles but without the quite the same reputation or a film starring Jamie Foxx), so at least it's not going to sound like 'Stars'. It doesn't even sound like Mick Hucknall for large sections of the song, reining himself in during the verses and sounding like quite a cool crooner, but then unleashing his famous squeal later on. The music is much as you'd expect a professional soul tribute band to sound, not quite bursting with the verve and fire of The JBs, but hardly something you'd be embarrassed to have at your wedding reception either. This is the most listenable thing Hucknall's done in ages. Listen: www.myspace.com/hucknalltributetobobby
