Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, might be a bit of a mouthful to say, but this band have certainly bitten off just about as much as they can chew. "A Fire Born in Dallas" is their debut single on newly created Pay For The Piano Recordings, and in a nutshell, it's a bit of a monster. Parallels between this sound and those of '...Trail of Dead' and 'At The Drive In' are instantly recognisable, but ASTLCF add their distinctly British spin to the proceedings, and in result produce an amazing blend of everything good about the British indie scene at the moment. The b-side to this track, "Wolverine Figurine" isn't as instantly hard-hitting, and isn't as well recorded or produced, but is still mighty tune none-the-less. The 'Razmataz Lorry Excitement' remix of "A Fire Born In Dallas" is thrown in for good measure, and aside it being a great re-mix, it brings so many more elements of the single to the attention of the listener and enhances the fantastic punky melodic undertones that I must say I hadn't really noticed in the original version. A stunning debut, and definitely a name to look out for. Marvellous. Listen: www.myspace.com/lakecaughtfire
