This is probably supposed to be a 21st century 'Ghost Town' or something, and Londoner Natty is certainly as catchy as The Specials' hit and has a social conscience, although the line: "What they say about brotherly love/Come on a give a hoodie a hug", is cringe worthy. He picks up points for his clever referencing to John Lydon and his dry-as-a-bone, 'Daily Mail'-ripping verse: "See these, illegal African taxis Got to dial up my call centres overseas Take what you can from the English man Then you build yourself a palace back in Pakistan". He's apparently a Lee 'Scratch' Perry nut, but 'Cold Town' is far more approachable than Perry's dub and far more likely to appear on summer chillout and festival compilations. It's a promising start though and hopefully, after playing with Kate Nash and appearing on an 'NME' covermount CD, he won't become the reggae Lethal Bizzle. Listen: www.myspace.com/natty4d
