Ok so it's not really long enough since I last reviewed Fight Like Apes for me to be really surprised with them, but I have to admit I was a little concerned as to how their crazy pop format would work over the duration of a proper album. Would an album full to overflowing (and let's be honest, it was never likely to be any other way) with their quirk just be annoying? Or would they tone it down, and drift into more sensible pop territory?

Well I'm pleased to report that neither of the above has happened. True, a lazy reviewer could describe a lot of the tracks as "McLusky meets (insert pop artist here)", and not all the songs are quite as immediate as the singles, but I actually found that those were the best songs. They wedge their cheeky melodies into a crack in your subconscious and stay there, gently propagating themselves all around your brain until you're fully swayed to the ways of the Apes.

Right cheered me up this has.
