A message from Socratic on why they dropped off their recent tour:
"Hey Everyone,
There is good news and there is bad news...
I am going to start with the bad news.
Some of you may already know that Bed Light for Blue Eyes dropped of
our June -July 08 tour. Besides this sucking a lot, it kinda began to
make things shitty for us. As medium size bands do, we all depend
upon each other’s draw to develop a good show, play in front of new
faces, and basically grow as a band while doing so. Immediately, the shows in some regions became smaller, and with rising gas prices and estimated merch
sales, we would have most likely been stranded somewhere
broke, scratching our heads, and we can’t have that happening. Gas for a four week tour would have LITERALLY cost around $4,000. So
obviously we had to drop off the tour dates, which bums us out so
much!! We want to say we are sorry to Mercy Mercedes and Driving East.
It’s not personal...it’s simply an economic thing. We tried to the salvage some
dates with Mercy Mercedes and Driving East, however, for a million and
one reasons, it did not work out which really sucks because they write
some good tunes.
Now, for the good news! Starting July 30 we will be touring with our
buddies Houston Calls and a band called A Change of Pace as the
replacement act for You Me and Everyone We Know. They (YMAEWK) dropped
the tour and we swooped in. These dates are up on www.myspace.com/houstoncalls and will be on our myspace as soon as i’m done writing this and can post them. Please come out to the shows and say hello! We’re always hanging around and would love to meet you.
Love you!
-Kevin and Socratic"
