'Technical Indie'? 'Math Pop'? If those mean anything to you, you'll be foaming at the pants to hear Pharaohs. If you're still confused, allow me to tell you the band make slightly yelpy, jabby guitar-based bounce-alongs in the manner of Foals, Minnaars, Jamie Thingy and Jack Penny-whatsit. This debut EP is a departure for them since losing a guitarist and deciding to chuck the distortion boxes out, in favour of music that may, already, be too clever for its own good. Which makes a refreshing change. If Columbus Had A Sat Nav. . . is particularly on the noodle.
