Stine, all three Anders' and the other two (only joking, Troels and Rasmus) are back! They look svelte, sharp and spangly and sound like they've spent some quality time with 'Now That's What I Call Music' compilations, 1989 through 1991.

The woah-woah-woah-ohs that kick start 'The Spell' have a definite Black Box 'Ride On Time' vibe and the piano melody is built around a sample from Cut 'N' Moves 'Get Serious', but even though these late 80s/early 90s dance influences are evident from the get go, it's still Alphabeat's poptastic pep that shines through; infectiously upbeat with sweet lyrics and even sweeter vocals (although the lack of Anders SG is disappointing) making 'The Spell' one of the best singles of 2009.

Roll on February 2010, when the album of the same name is scheduled for release (fingers crossed they rectify the Anders SG neglect too).
