It seems like West Yorkshire is the new home of UK hip hop at the moment. J Simple is from Huddersfield and I reckon this is one of my favourite hip hop singles so far this year. The title track boasts West Coast G-Funk style production, which is perfect for these summery days (ok it's pissing down outside, but you get the idea) whilst Mr Simple rhymes his deceptively simple, sharply observational lyrics. B side Breath Control is probably even better, with a dirtier, grimy style which bounces along nicely. The three MCs styles compliment each other nicely too. The instrumental / radio versions are bobbins and pointless, but the jazz remix is pretty cool, and reminds me of 90s hip hop / jungle pioneers Tek 9.
