Christian Metalcore heavyweights The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP) released "With Roots Above And Branches Below" on Ferret Records on May, 5th. Sophomore release and follow up to the successful "Plagues" album, TDWP step up their game with a perfect blend of majority metal substance and blissfully melodic choruses. This release is for fans of I Killed The Prom Queen, As I Lay Dying, Parkway Drive and Underoath.

The opening track "Sassafras" may put off a lot of listeners due to its heavily screamed vocals but given the chance this album could gain a lot of new fans if only given a chance. In just 2 minutes the track chances from a Metalcore song into a song to contend with Saosin and Underoath's perfected melodic choruses.

The truly brilliant thing about this album is the single things you often pick out in a great band such as a fantastic drummer or unique vocalists are all present. Jeremy does a fantastic job of some standout clean vocals, Daniel performs well enough to make most drummers sick, Chris pulls some piercing riffs and James does a fantastic job on supplying a wide array of classical piano and orchestral sections.

A fantastic amount of detail went into post-production on this record with the almost ingenious effects used towards the later side of "I Hate Buffering" which incorporates a stuttering pan effect and although not Metallica "S&M" worthy the orchestral sections that can be found throughout this release really gives it that edge over most Metalcore releases as of late

Standout tracks include "Dez Moines" (Single), "I Hate Buffering" and "Danger: Wildman". Although this may not be everyone's cup of tea, if given the chance many listeners will find something they enjoy about TDWP's latest attempt.
