In the jostle for 'Sound of the Summer 2009', this has to be near the front. Camilo Lara, A.K.A. Mexican Institute of Sound has fashioned an insane party mix of Mariachi, hip-hop, whacked-out glitch and warped easy-listening. Groovy evening get-together fizzling out? Break out the tequila and stick this album on. It's a marriage made in fruggin' heaven.
There's Mexican pub-rappers, the Beastie Boys and Pink Floyd. There's what could be the White Stripes on mescaline. Whatever it is, it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a shake in your booty.
