The UK Hip Hop scene has another jewel in its gold fronts with Foreign Beggar's fourth album "United Colours of Beggattron". I'm not going to pretend I'm a hip hop aficionado but I know what I like and the four piece Foreign Beggars are up there with Braintax, Skinnyman and Jehst in my opinion. Upbeat rhymes which are witty and stay clear of the clichéd subjects, coupled with slick beats and production has led to this album to get stuck in my car stereo for a couple of weeks, mainly so I can play it to passengers and pass on the good word.
"Contact" is the lead single is built on a dirty dubstep beat, and is sure to be a big hit in the clubs. The other tracks touch on every sub-genre of the hip-hop scene - from the serious street tough tunes like "Move Higher" or the self-aware thoughtpiece of "Break Free" to the comedic "Don't Dhoow It"; the Foreign Beggars have got all the points covered. The album also features a large list of guests including Noisia, Guilty Simpson, Ghosttown, Devlin Phat Kat and the aforementioned Jehst, "United Colours of Beggattron" has got crossover appeal that would interest those who aren't full time hip-hop heads.
If you only own Dre Dre's "The Chronic" and Jurassic 5 you should seek out this album. And the breh's out there will have already heard this stone-cold classic.
