White Belt Yellow Tag - Methods

To describe White Belt Yellow Tag’s album Methods in three words, I would use huge, soaring and anthemic. To compare it to three other bands, I would choose Doves, U2 and unfortunately, Coldplay, which is a comparison I just cannot deny, but as White Belt Yellow Tag are actually good, I’ll forgive them.

This is an album of immense proportions, each track is layered with sounds and are superbly produced to give an end result that is just astounding. And therein lies a problem, each track is as richly epic as the next one, which has the effect of sameyness. Nothing seems to stand out, even the single Always & Echoes doesn’t or can’t be more than the rest.

White Belt Yellow Tag have produced a piece of music that they should be very proud of, it’s quite simply beautiful. The lyrics don’t particularly stand out, so there’s not much in the way of singalongability. Also, I would be very interested to see how this three piece re-produce all these sounds live, I imagine it would be a very different beast altogether.
