This is the sound of Valentino. Yup, the fashion house Valentino chose this for their recent campaign (which also featured Ernest Hemingway’s grand-daughter Dree, way to keep the family name going by honouring one of the greatest American writers by doing something in no way vacuous or vapid).
The track however cuts like a knife (both the implement & the band). The vocals veering from breathy & desperate to controlling & seductive. It’s got many layers & each one has punch. The bleak electronic vibe never loosing its danceablity.
This is Post-Neu Nu New Wave Electronica & it’s utterly hypnotic.
