Now here is what I believe advertisers of a certain aged brand of bird-related cider would call 'a refreshing change'. Heavy, melodic, guitar-based music without a bronchitic zombie screaming their lungs out over the top. Tim Waterfield, ex-man of electro-weighty punx Ann Arbor, has successfully performed alchemy with the choicest cuts of Black Sabbath and Mogwai, producing something other than else in its thunderous glory. Hugeness abounds in all tracks here, but let's single out the likes of Ride, for its jaunty punching of Ministry in the gonads and Jordan, which swings a damn sight more than its namesake's tits.
Not bad for a bloke and a laptop.
