Coldplay with a side-order of Gene, anyone? If you found yourself answering 'yes' to that question, then quite clearly you have either far too much emoting to do or problems with your hormones. Or maybe, just maybe, you're unaware of the hand-wringing superstars and their colossal crystal tunes. 'Cos this is where we're at with the Motion Picture Soundtrack, my merry band of distractible goblins. It's Weep Factor Ten, with a big, jewelled stick of ROCK. Well, 'rock' of the overblown, stadium variety, at least. These tunes are clearly too enormous to be confined by a mere concert hall or (snorts, waves hand with limped wrist) club. They're so made to accompany your empty gaze through a rain-flecked bedroom window. Or as the incidental music on FIFA 2011. One of the two.
