McFly - One For The Radio (Single)

Released through the band's own record label Super Records "One For The Radio" is the first single taken from their fourth album "Radio:ACTIVE" that follows on from "Room On The 3rd Floor" (2004), "Wonderland" (2005) and "Motion In The Ocean" (2006). Produced by former A frontman Jason Perry (Who has also worked with The Riverclub and Matt Willis) in Australia the song has a good foot-stomping oomph behind it. The slick pop-rock you have come accustomed to from McFly is ever-present and the chorus is appropriately huge.

The one thing I need to point out though is did they realise they were ripping-off (Or paying homage to if you take that road.) the Gummi Bears theme-tune in the way the opening verse sung by Tom Fletcher is delivered? Just saying. Have a listen, see what you think.

I've always thought McFly were very consistent throughout their proper albums, and with this single as the lead I'm keeping my hopes high for "Radio:ACTIVE" that following its free giveaway in The Mail on Sunday on the 20th of July will be released properly as a deluxe package on the 22nd of September.

B-side "Do Ya (Acoustic)" is a wonderful accompaniment to the A-side of "One For The Radio" as it showcases the fun playful side to McFly and their seemingly natural ability to create a cracking pop sing-along with the simplest of ingredients. The duelling vocals at about 2:25 and the wo-oh's round off this single in tiptop fashion.

Another excellent addition to the McFly back catalogue.
