Sometimes, I like to think of music in colours. I think it's a pretty good way to define a band and the mood they bring by thinking about what colour they'd be. The Tempus would be Magnolia or perhaps a light, pleasant blue.
The reason for my colour selection is this. The Tempus are a neutral band. They are the Switzerland of the music world. They are smooth, tight & lay down some nice soft rock riffage. The drums are simple & fitting. The guitars are catchy, upbeat & nice. The vocals are easy on the ear. As far as demos go, this is pretty tidy & nice but...well.it's all too safe. There is nothing gripping or exciting about this CD at all. It's safe, tidy, neutral & middle of the road. There is definitely a Manics type feel to all 3 songs but they also remind me slightly of the Kinks but still it's all very.neutral.
I expect to hear more from this band as I imagine they will be picked up by a decent label that can smell the cash of Dad's that are still trying to find a band that they can namedrop to their son in hopes of getting a glimmer of respect or a "Dad, that's pretty cool" look.
