London duo Kissing Kalina don't mess about - 'The Ronettes on heroin' performing 'monstrous, black-clad pop songs'. So saith their Myspace, anyway. On the strength of this pair of tracks, however, they sound more like the Tragically Hip covering the Sex Pistols. The Ronettes don't even get a wave, despite the leathery angels' choir of backing singers - although the songs could only be played by people wearing black. Or perhaps tartan, at a push. Sartorial comments aside, as a snake-hipped smidgen of louche punk Here She Comes works perfectly well enough. Drums from the Meg White school are all that's required to pogo us through another tale of lunatic love, while classic era-exact guitars buzz and grind.

Still channelling the spirit of '77, Juggernaut only needs a rawer production job to be perfect as the soundtrack to those 'I Love the '70s'-style TV documentaries fronted by the inevitable Stewart Maconie ("Oh, yes! I used to listen to this whilst watching Grange Hill and eating my after-school Curly-Wurly."). Not quite gripping enough to live up to its title but, like its predecessor, there is still enough of interest. Given the correct chemicals, something truly stellar could emerge. In the meantime, it's great for those whose safety-pin piercings have long since healed up.
