Fujiya & Miyagi - Lightbulbs

On the impression of opener "Knickerbocker" I was half expecting some look-at-me-silly-pop-rubbish. The song's almost childish mantra was quite off putting in all honesty.

But being a semi-pro in this reviewing lark I persevered, and I discovered a very nice little album indeed.

Ignoring the opener and letting the rest of the album play around your eyes a few times, it brings to mind a very subdued (re: VERY SUBDUED) indie take on Polysics meets the Gorillaz. It's all laid-back beats and funky bass lines whilst some very Tim Burgess esque vocals bounce over the top.

If you will it's pop music, pop music created by a few lads with some ideas and songs. Nothing more nothing less, but contains some nice moments.
