Side projects are a dodgy thing, they can either sound as good as the main band or absolutely terrible and a waste of time. Often they sound a lot like one of the artists main bands and fairly often the material is a failed attempt to create something different. Sadly for Scars on Broadway watered down is the term here, with filler also high on the list.

Mostly they sound like their parent band, Nu-Metal survivors System Of A Down, fed through the alt-rock injection moulding process. Lyrically there is a severe lack of anything well written, the majority are a bit short and over repeated, they’re certainly not a strong point. Sound wise the album has good production, polish abounds, but unfortunately there’s only so much you can do and thus it can’t make up for the riff mediocrity. At 45 minutes spread over 15 tracks this is elongated filler almost to the extreme. Nearly alt-rock by numbers, I must acknowledge the SOAD sound stops it from being that.

Terribly, terribly boring and dull. It may sound like a comedy solicitors but that’s about the state of this album, it’s only real use being as a sleeping aid for insomniacs.
