Right, they're a big bunch of lads these ones. So I better behave myself I reckon. Big boys indeed. Big, shouty streetpunk is the order of the day, spread across 2 discs there is enough material here to keep fans interested for some time. Discipline have been around for a considerable time making records and touring the world with their brand of hardcore/streetpunk and playing with some of the biggest names in hardcore. So after all the albums and splits and comp appearances they have rewarded us with a double disc of covers. Disc one contains newly recorded tracks of some of their favourite tracks and the second disc collects all the covers they have done from their other records and vinyl. Pretty sweet eh?
Well I do like hearing covers, I think quite a few people do to. It's always fun to hear a band doing interpretations of other tracks; they might even do something interesting with it.
Discipline don’t really do anything new with their collection here, it's mostly straight down the line, honest covers of influential and to be honest, obvious tracks. Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Ramones, Sheer Terror and Cock Sparrer are no real stretch from Disciplines sound. The most fun is to be had listening to their take on Billy Idol’s "Rebel Yell" and "Cum On Feel The Noizz" by Slade are pretty fun to listen to at least once.
But that’s the problem with covers albums; they can get boring pretty fast unless there is some novelty value or they actually do something different with the material.
Discipline don’t at all, but they play with the conviction and well enough that their sincerity and honesty does come through.
