You know how Beck and the Beastie Boys are pretty easy to listen to? Well, this is kind of like a slowed down Beastie Boys or a more evil Beck and it isn't easy to listen to. I've come to the realisation that this is a good thing. The pop stylings of the aforementioned artists are all well and good, but it's pretty easy to let them kind of waft over you, without really paying attention. They sink in almost without you noticing. Curtain Rod Character you really have to listen to, and it's quite hard work at times. His lyrics are much more grounded and personal, the music is dark and dense and almost noise rock in places.

Interestingly it seems that the man behind Curtain Rod Character is also Some Monastery, which I reviewed a while back. This record is how good I wanted that album to be. And what's more you can download the whole thing for free at the link below. What're you waiting for?
